The Rome Municipal Council implemented new rates through Resolution GC No. 255 of July 17, 2023, which came into effect on October 1, 2023 .

The tourist tax also applies in the vicinity of Rome:

  • Fregene – €2.00 per person per night in 3-star hotels
  • Fiuggi – €1.20 per person per night in 3-star hotels
  • Monterotondo – €1.20 per person per night in 4-star hotels

It is expected that soon, more Italian municipalities will be able to apply the tourist tax according to the new national legislation , which could extend these fees to new destinations in the metropolitan area.

It's important to note that the tourist tax in Rome applies to stays of up to 10 nights, or up to 5 nights for campsites . After these 10 nights, the tax is waived.
Currently, there is no tourist tax in Palestrina and Rocca di Papa.
