How to register travelers with the Ertzaintza (Basque Police)

SES HOSPEDAJES platform has been launched . This platform must be used to register travelers nationwide, with the exception of tourist accommodations that are required to register travelers with the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) or Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police ). The Ertzaintza maintains its own system for registering travelers in the Basque Country to ensure immediate police intervention within its territory.

Registration in the Ertzaintza traveler registry

Before registering guests at any tourist establishment in the Basque Country, the accommodation must be registered with the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) to comply with the law.

How should we register travelers in the Basque Country?

According to the Public Safety Law, in the Basque Country, guest data of all ages must be collected. The mandatory data that must be provided, according to the Ertzaintza website, is as follows:

With the implementation of Royal Decree 933/2021, the traveler registration form used for guest registration with the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) has been updated. Starting in 2025, the updated traveler registration form, compliant with the requirements of Royal Decree 933/2021, must be submitted. The old traveler registration form, which could be used until the end of December 2024, will no longer be valid.

Royal Decree 933/2021 has updated the guest registration form. From 2025, it is mandatory to use this new form to register guests, and the old form will be invalid from December 2024.

How should data be communicated within the Ertzaintza (Basque Police)?

Traveler data must be communicated to the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) within 24 hours of check-in through the Ertzaintza hotel registration system. This data can be communicated in several ways:
