What kind of phone do I need to run the app?

The Check-in Scan app runs on most major smartphones and on both IOS and Android operating systems.
Minimum requirements:

  • 6 Megapixel camera.
  • iPhone 8 or higher. With iOS 13.0 or higher. (September 2019)
  • Android “Nougat” 7.0 (API 24) or higher. (September 2016)

Recommended requirements:

  • 8 Megapixel camera or higher.
  • iPhone X or higher. With iOS 14.0 or higher. (September 2020)
  • Android “Oreo” 8.0 (API 26) or higher. (September 2017)

As the app can be used in a demo test mode, your best option to see if it will work is download it and give it a go!

What's the "MRZ" of an ID?

Our app scans the “barcode” of passports and ID cards, you will find it at the bottom of the passport or on the reverse side of an ID card. Looks like this MRZ

Do you recommend using a stylus for signatures?

It really depends on your preference. You will find that some guests will prefer to just use their finger and others may feel more comfortable using a stylus. If you are going to allow guests to do Self Check-in at your properties, it may be a good idea to have a stylus close to the QR code sheet so they can use it if they wish.

Do you offer support?

Yes, we offer support through the chat interface that is available both on the web and in the mobile app.

What about data privacy?

We comply with current data privacy legislations and technically we make every effort to ensure your data is safe. We don´t keep data unnecessarily either, if you cancel your account, we remove all of your account data. We also clean our server on a nightly basis to ensure that any unneeded documents are removed.

Are you going to release new features?

Yes, we do have a lot of features that we want to develop that will add even more value to the service. If you have any ideas, contact us through the support chat available both on the web and in the mobile app, we will be happy to hear from you.

What requirements does the current legislation have?

If you are in the holiday rental business, whether you rent, manage and/or own holiday rental properties, chances are that you have heard that these properties are known as “Housing for Tourist purposes ” and require a tourism license. Part of the obligations of this license means that you must submit the guest’s identification data to the police within 24 hours of the guest’s arrival at the holiday property. In addition, each guest is required to sign a registry form or guest record, which must be kept in a book or file for each property for the next 3 years. If you need specific information about the law, please contact us through the support chat located in the lower right corner of the website and in the mobile app.

What's an agent?

An agent is basically someone who can use the app based on your settings, to include your configuration, properties etc. Essentially an agent could be an employee that does the “meet and greets” for you or it could be a cleaner, a transport company, a neighbour, etc… You can add as many agents as you wish to your app.

What is a Test Property?

When you download our app and sign up, you will find your account contains a Test Property. This allows you to test scan the passport or ID card with your phone’s camera so that you can try it prior to checking in customers. It also allows you to test the digital signature panel. Any scans or signatures completed on that Test Property are not sent to the police, so feel free to try it out.

Can my agent perform tests?

Yes. In fact, anyone that downloads the app will be able to do as many test check-ins as they want on their own phone. To do this, you just need to go to your app settings and click on ”Try it out”.

What happens if I decide to stop using Check-in Scan in the future?

Well, we will be sad to see you go of course, but you have no contracts with us so you are free to leave whenever. You can download all your parte de viajeros books for each property at any point in time, so just do that before closing your account and then notify us via web chat or mobile app and we will advise you on the next steps.

How safe is the data really?

Any sensitive data, including guest personal details as well as any login codes to the national police, guardia civil, mossos d’esquadra or ertzaintza is encrypted on our database to 2048 Bits RSA. We do not email you guest data, everything you need to work is in your web based control panel and/or in the app and access to these is via secure SSL tunnelling. Hence, all important data is contained to a high level of security and privacy within our system. In addition, we keep track of every digital document on our server and it is cleaned on a nightly basis to ensure that very little documents are available within our file systems.
