Our tool calculates the tourist tax based on the specific tourist tax structure associated with a specific region or country.
In Spain, tourist tax is only payable in two autonomous communities: Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. In Catalonia, all children under 17 are exempt, and in the Balearic Islands, all children under 16 are exempt. In the rest of Europe, there are also exceptions by area and region.
In Portugal, children under 13 are exempt from paying tourist taxes.
People with a disability of 65% or more who present a medical certificate, or those who spend the night in a city in Portugal with a tourist tax for medical treatment, are also exempt from paying tourist taxes.
In Italy, children between the ages of 10 and 14 are exempt from paying tourist taxes, depending on the region.
Disabled tourists and their companions are also exempt. For the latter, they must present a medical certificate.
