One of the most important legal requirements for any tourist accommodation in Spain is to present the registration of travelers. With the implementation of Royal Decree 933/2021 , the guest registration must be carried out through the SES HOSPEDAJES PLATFORMS throughout the national territory, except in the Basque Country and Catalonia . From 2025 the Civil Guard Host Service is deactivated by showing the following message :
The registration of travelers in Hostels of the Civil Guard has been a mandatory requirement in tourist accommodation since 1959 , however, in 2013 Law 4/2013, of June 4, on flexibility measures and market promotion, was approved. of housing rental , through which all tourist accommodation, whether hotel, hostel, rural house or even private apartment, has the obligation to register its guests to " guarantee citizen safety ."

In the tourist accommodation sector, legislation in Spain is constantly changing, so tourist housing owners must be up to date with all modifications.
The last change made in the legislation was Royal Decree 933/2021 , of the Ministry of Interior, which establishes the obligations of documentary registration of guests by natural and legal persons, which exercise lodging activities and that should have begun to be applied under the platform of the Ministry of Interior SES.HOSPEDAJES .
The transition to operate should have been carried out in 2022 , technical difficulties caused it to be postponed until January 2023 and, after a new twist, the Ministry of the Interior postponed the date again until October 2024.
